Though model homes are essentially home staging on overdrive, they can provide a treasure trove of design inspiration – especially when done this well. The Watermark model home found waaaaay up north in Calgary, is a lesson in balanced eclecticism. Dubbed “Prairie Modern,” its design style mixes traditional, rustic, and contemporary elements. The home also features custom millwork throughout (see the kitchen and bedroom for example). From brass accents to muted textiles, there’s a bit of inspiration for every decor.

A New Twist on Halloween Decorating
Switch up your Halloween scenery this year. Rather than buy new decorations for every holiday, get creative with Christmas lights. Dig out your tree lights — or shop for new, updated options — and turn them into spooky Halloween decor. The best part? Reusing lights for two different holidays frees up more storage space for you. You won’t need to double up on Halloween and Christmas decor, so you can store twice as much and save money in the process.

A Delaware County Barn Becomes A Modern Dream Home
Aside from my love of interior design, I also have a penchant for art and amazing architecture. The latter is just one of the reasons I so love this barn conversion by architect Pietro Cicognani. From the dramatic ceilings to the industrial staircase housed in the barn’s old silo, the home seamlessly melds rustic with modern.

House Beautiful’s Kitchen of the Year 2018
Those who’ve followed me in the past may recall how much I absolutely love glamorous interior design. So naturally, I have a thing for House Beautiful’s Kitchen of the Year. The designer, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, gives a bit of Moroccan glamour, combining a traditional star motif with finishes like aged brass and marble.
If this isn’t exactly your style, you’re sure to appreciate his focus on functionality. Drawer fridges for drinks, a Thermador Pro Grand Range,… even veggies have their own sink. A self-proclaimed home chef could cook quite the dish of Spaghetti Madness with this setup.
